Staying in Twin Falls with a dog or a cat

Pets are welcome at all twelve

You can bring a pet to any of the twelve New Leaf properties in Twin Falls. You leave a refundable pet deposit when you check in, and no pet fee is charged at any point, whether you stay one week or the full 30 days. A dog or a cat adds nothing to the room rate.

At all twelve properties, service animals sit outside the pet policy, and no deposit or fee is charged for them. The rest of this guide covers what a stay with a pet costs, the house rules, which room and which part of town fit, and what to ask before you book.

What a week with a pet costs

Nightly stays are temporarily paused so we can make room for guests staying a week or longer, up to 30 days. That makes one week (7 nights) the shortest stay, pet or not. A single room is $250 a week, the same with a pet as without one, which is $35.71 a day, paid weekly.

A double is $275 a week, or $39.29 a day, paid weekly. A studio with a full kitchen is $325 a week, or $46.43 a day, paid weekly. A single held for a stay of up to 30 days is a flat $1,000, which is $33.33 a day if all 30 days are used. No reservation runs past 30 days, and every rate here is before 8% tax.

The pet deposit at all twelve properties is refundable, and the office will tell you the amount when you call. The room may carry a deposit of its own as well: newly renovated rooms take one week’s rent, and some rooms take none. Call (208) 733-2010 and confirm both for the specific room. There is no lease, no credit check and no application fee either way.

Service animals

Service animals under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are welcome at all twelve properties with no deposit and no fee for the animal, whatever the length of the stay. Under the house policy a service animal does not count as a pet, so the refundable pet deposit described above does not apply to it.

The ADA limits what a business may ask about a service animal. You do not have to tell the office ahead of time that one is coming, and nobody will ask you for paperwork past what the ADA allows. If you are also bringing a pet, that animal falls under the pet rules below.

The house rules for pets

The pet FAQ on each property’s own site sets two pets as the most any one room can take, and each animal’s breed and weight have to be approved. That is why the call to (208) 733-2010 comes before the drive over. Tell the office what you are bringing: dog or cat, breed, rough weight, and how many.

Three more rules hold at all twelve. A pet stays with you and is never left alone in the room while you are out. Cleaning up after your animal on the grounds is on you, and so is any damage it causes. None of these rules carries a fee.

The rule against leaving a pet alone applies at all twelve properties, and it covers cats as well as dogs. If your work hours would leave a cat or a dog by itself in the room for part of the day, ask the office how that works before you book.

Choosing a room type with an animal

The single has one Queen bed, sleeps up to two people, and is the lowest priced of the three room types at $250 a week, or $35.71 a day, paid weekly. Nine of the twelve properties have singles. One person or a couple with a dog or a cat fits here, and Twin Falls Motel on Kimberly Road rents nothing else.

The double has two Queen beds and sleeps up to four, at $275 a week, or $39.29 a day, paid weekly, and eight of the twelve properties have one. If more than two people are traveling with the animals, you need a double or a studio; both sleep four. The two-pet limit is per room whatever its size, so a double does not raise it.

The studio has a full kitchen and one Queen bed, sleeps up to four, and is $325 a week, or $46.43 a day, paid weekly. Nine properties have studios, and three rent nothing else: Deluxe Motor Lodge, Jones Motel and 760 Main Ave Extended Stay. For a stay of several weeks, a kitchen saves buying every meal out, at $325 a week against $250 for a single.

Where the twelve are, with a pet in mind

Addison Avenue West holds five properties within about a fifth of a mile of each other. In street-number order they are Apollo Motor Inn, El Rancho Motel, Park Motel, Monterey Motor Inn and Dunes Motel. Of the three groups it is the closest to Highway 93, and it sits roughly a mile from the center of downtown. If your first choice is full, the other four are a short walk down the same street, and the same office line books all of them.

Measured from the center of downtown, Old Towne Lodge is the closest of the twelve at a tenth of a mile, and Downtown Extended Stay is three tenths of a mile out. Jones Motel, Deluxe Motor Lodge and 760 Main Ave Extended Stay complete the downtown group, and all three are studio only. If you want a single or a double downtown with a pet, that leaves Old Towne Lodge and Downtown Extended Stay.

Kimberly Road Extended Stay and Twin Falls Motel are the two properties on Kimberly Road, 1.2 and 1.6 miles from the center of downtown and the two farthest of the twelve from it. Kimberly Road Extended Stay has all three room types. Twin Falls Motel rents singles only, so it suits one person or a couple with a pet.

Apollo Motor Inn, El Rancho Motel and Twin Falls Motel have no laundry on site. If you plan to wash a dog bed or a blanket during your stay, factor that in before you pick one of those three. At the other nine properties, ask the office what laundry is available before you count on it.

What to ask, and where to book

The office at (208) 733-2010 is open Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM, Twin Falls time, and closed on Sunday. After hours the line forwards to the on-call operator. With a pet, call before you book and have these questions ready:

• How much is the pet deposit, and what gets all of it back?
• Does the room itself carry a deposit as well?
• Here is my animal’s breed and weight. Is that approved?
• Is a ground floor room open?
• Where is the nearest place to walk a dog from this property?
• Is there laundry on site here?
